1942

The beginning of Hino, at the Hino heavy industries plant in Tokyo. The company took its name from the location of its headquarters in Hino city within Tokyo prefecture.

T20 Trailer Truck was launched

Trolley Bus was launched

TC 10 Truck was launched

By the early 1960s, new medium-duty models were being released …Hino Ranger KM300

Hino’s first international sales office and production facility opened in Thailand

1965

1st Hino vehicle was sold in Australia

1967

A business alliance was formed with the Toyota Motor Corporation.

1981

The redesigned Super Dolphin Series heavy-duty truck was launched. The Super Dolphin was Hino's entry into the heavy duty truck market.

1989

20,000th Hino Truck sold in Australia

1990

Hino’s ‘Birds of Prey’ series was launched in the early 90s with the Hawk, Super Hawk, Harrier, Raven, Kestrel, Osprey, Griffon, Shrike and Super Eagle.

1996

Ranger Series introduced into Australia

1997

Victory was seen at the gruelling 1997 Dakar Rally which tests the limits of durability and reliability

2000

Dutro launched in Australia

2001

In 2001, Hino became a subsidiary of the Toyota Motor Corporation.

2007

In 2007 Hino Australia successfully introduced the Hino Hybrid into a market beginning to focus more on its environmental impact.

2011

Hino Australia launches new-generation 300 Series light-duty truck range, paving the way for safety becoming a central design principal

2017

Commenced new product line-up with launch of 500 Series Wide Cab, harnessing technology and breaking new ground in safety and comfort innovation.

2017

Developed specifically for the Australian market – 300 Series 4x4 was introduced

2018

New 500 Series Standard Cab featuring Hino SmartSafe and cleaner emissions, equivalent to Euro 6

2020

New 300 Series featuring Hino SmartSafe and enhanced towing capacity and payload

2021

New 700 Series featuring safest Hino SmartSafe package and cleanest emissions – Euro 6
