We spoke with Marc Galanti, owner of Galanti Joinery in Melbourne, to learn how his family’s business has built a name for itself through their attention to a quality product, and how Hino has helped to deliver this standard on every job.
Starting out in 1985 creating standard joinery for kitchens and wardrobes, Galanti has since grown to become one of the finest and most reputable joinery businesses in Melbourne, specialising in entire fit-outs and bespoke designer furnishings across both residential and commercial projects.
Driven by quality
At Galanti, a commitment to quality is at the heart of everything they do. So, in 2023 when Marc needed a new truck to meet the growing demands of the business, he sought out a brand that matched that same high standard.
It was the Hino 500 Series that caught Marc’s eye, quite literally standing head and shoulders above the rest on Melbourne’s roads. “I started seeing the Hino 500 Series quite often. It just looked like a quality truck, well put together and a design that stood out. We create good looking pieces for our customers. We wanted them to see the same in our truck when we deliver them.”
A great deal of help
Marc was coming back from a site measure one Saturday and just popped in to have a look at a Hino 500 Series at CMI Hino Melbourne. “I wanted to know more about them. I talked with Peter Zavas at the time. He was very helpful. I wanted a lot in the truck I was looking for. Peter listened, and I could see he was getting excited about the challenge to deliver it.”
Peter helped see the entire project through, from ordering the Hino truck and managing its arrival, to liaising with the body builder and signage company for its custom fit-out and livery.
With ordering his 500 Series being such a successful experience, Marc was quick to get the ball rolling on expanding his fleet even further. “It was only a few weeks after I went back and asked if we could have exactly the same for a Hino 300 Series. We had a few unforeseen challenges with the smaller truck, but Bryan at CMI Hino Derrimut was quick to respond, iron out the issues and get everything on track. He was a big help and true professional.
Both trucks have been specially designed with a fit-out that enables the safe transit and delivery of Galanti's high-end cabinetry and bespoke designer furnishings. They have also been given the distinct Galanti black livery that truly makes them stand out on the streets of Melbourne.
The right fit for the business
The Hino 500 Series would be transporting joinery a fair distance, delivering to sites in both regional areas and interstate. With these long drives part of Galanti’s day-to-day, comfort was a big factor for Marc.
“It’s the sheer space of the cabin interior that stands out for me. The ergonomic design and layout is far advanced, with plenty of functions on the steering wheel, superior instrument panel and touchscreen navigation. Nothing’s complicated, it all makes it easier for the driver.”
Marc was also impressed with the safety that comes with the Hino brand. “We’ve had a few other trucks over the years, and you just don’t get that level of safety in the others. “The Pre-Collision System (PCS) sees an accident happening before the driver does which is a great help on our longer hauls. Same with the Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS). And for those tight suburban deliveries, the Reverse Camera comes in extremely handy.”
Equipped with the same advanced features of the SmartSafe package, the Hino 300 Series proves its value for the delivery of smaller loads. “It’s a big help for the smaller areas and can fit into the tighter spaces around the suburbs. The tight turning circle and manoeuvrability make it very handy.”
A relationship built to last
After putting so much into growing a reputation of quality all the way through his business, Marc’s very proud of his Hino trucks. “I get quite a lot of comments to be honest. Being a business owner you talk to the owners of other businesses. We have a conversation, they're intrigued, there are questions, and I highly recommend them.”
Galanti has come a long way since it began back in 1985. It just goes to show where an ingrained commitment to quality can get you. And it shows in their two signature black Hino trucks, not just helping to deliver above and beyond on every job, but also driving growth and success for the business.
