A well-decorated Hino will be the first Japanese truck to feature in the pages of Australia's only publication dedicated to customised trucks.
The Hino 500 Series FD 1124 Tilt Tray belonging to Tingays Towing of Castlemaine will feature in the pages of the third edition of Australian Custom Trucks magazine, which launched with its first edition at the end of last year.
The Tingays truck began transporting stranded vehicles around the Castlemaine area of Victoria in late 2013 and features a striking custom black paint job with red and silver lettering, details and stripes.
It also wears stainless steel underbody boxes and mudflaps, polished alloy wheels, Hella driving lamps and a Hino Genuine aluminium bull bar with inbuilt tow hooks.
Its sliding tilt tray was supplied by Ahrns Handling Equipment in South Australia.
The Tingays truck's Hino badge, which is usually chrome finished, is also painted bright red.
Australian Custom Trucks editor and founder Chris Smith said that while the majority of trucks featured in the magazine are from the USA, he is aiming to showcase a diverse range of trucks and is glad he found the Tingays Hino.
"We're very pleased that the Tingays Hino 500 Series tow truck is featuring in Australian Custom Trucks," Mr Smith said.
"It shows that by applying a bit of creativity to whatever you drive, can make it stand out from the crowd.
"The Tingays Hino has been especially designed to pick up cars which are lowered. These are very cool looking low riders and sports cars so it is only fitting that the truck that picks them up looks the part," he said.
Hino Australia Chairman and CEO Steve Lotter said that the Tingays truck in Australian Custom Trucks highlights the diversity of Hino drivers, and is a great promotion for the Hino brand.
"The Hino truck range caters for a wide range of truck buyers in the light, medium and heavy duty markets, for use in a range of industries and applications," Mr Lotter said.
"While the majority of our customers are happy with the appearance of their Hino, it's great to see there are some enthusiasts personalising their trucks.
"And you have to admit, the Tingays truck looks sensational," he said.
The Tingays Hino will be competing in the Show and Shine event at the International Truck, Trailer Equipment Show (ITTES) in Melbourne next month.
The full Hino range will also on display at ITTES, including the new 300 Series High Horsepower models, the 500 Series GT 1322 4x4 and Dakar Rally truck from 2011, a 300 Series Hybrid and a heavy duty 700 Series truck.
